Parts Warranty

3-12 Months

All replacement parts are covered against defects and failures. Warranty period varies by component type (batteries, screens, keyboards, motherboards, etc.).

90 Days

If the same issue returns within 90 days, we'll re-repair it at no charge. This covers workmanship and ensures your repair was done right the first time.

30 Days

Software installations, virus removal, and OS troubleshooting are covered for 30 days. If the same software issue returns, we'll fix it free.

What IS Covered:

  • Defective parts: Parts that fail due to manufacturing defects
  • Workmanship issues: Problems caused by our repair work
  • Component failures: Hardware that stops working under normal use
  • Same issue recurrence: If the exact problem we fixed returns
  • Software issues: Software problems within 30 days of our work

What is NOT Covered:

  • Physical damage: Drops, spills, impacts, or mishandling after collection
  • Liquid damage: New water/liquid exposure after repair
  • Unauthorized repairs: Work done by other technicians after our repair
  • Normal wear: Battery degradation, cosmetic wear, scratches
  • Software changes: User-installed software causing new issues
  • Different issues: New, unrelated problems that develop
  • Expired coverage: Claims made after warranty period ends

⚠️ Important: Different vs. Same Issue

Our warranty covers the same issue returning, not new problems. For example:

  • Covered: We replaced your screen, and now it has dead pixels β†’ Free replacement
  • Not covered: We replaced your screen, but now your keyboard doesn't work β†’ Different issue

↩️ Returns & Refunds

7-Day Satisfaction Guarantee

If you're not satisfied with your repair, you have 7 days from collection to request a refund or re-repair.

Return Conditions:

  1. Device in same condition: No new damage, liquid exposure, or unauthorized repairs
  2. Original issue persists: The problem we were supposed to fix is still present
  3. Within 7 days: Return request made within 7 days of collecting your device
  4. With invoice: You must present your original repair invoice

Refund Process:

  1. Contact us: Call 082 810 0821 or email hello@planetcomputers.co.za
  2. Return device: Bring the device to our Wynberg location
  3. Inspection: We'll verify the issue (usually within 1 business day)
  4. Refund issued: Full refund within 3-5 business days if approved

Refund Options:

  • Full refund: Money returned via EFT or original payment method
  • Re-repair: We'll attempt to fix the issue again at no charge
  • Store credit: Credit towards future repairs or products

🚫 No Refunds For:

  • New damage caused after collection
  • Change of mind (if repair was successful)
  • Diagnostic fees (if you declined the repair)
  • Different issues from what was repaired

πŸ“ž How to Make a Warranty Claim

Step 1: Contact Us

As soon as you notice the issue, reach out:

  • Walk-in: Visit our Wynberg location

Step 2: Provide Details

  • Your name and contact number
  • Original repair job number (on your invoice)
  • Description of the problem
  • Date of original repair

Step 3: Bring Device In

We'll need to physically inspect the device to verify:

  • The issue is covered under warranty
  • No new damage has occurred
  • It's the same problem we originally fixed

Step 4: Resolution

Once verified, we'll:

  • Re-repair: Fix the issue at no charge (usually 2-5 days)
  • Replace part: Install a new replacement part
  • Refund: Issue full refund if within 7 days and issue can't be resolved

⚑ Priority Service

Warranty claims get priority handling. We'll typically turn around warranty repairs faster than new jobs because we want to make it right quickly.
